This year, we were honoured to attend the Students’ ANZAC Commemorative Ceremony at Anzac Square on Thursday 22nd April. Due to COVID, only four students per school were able to attend so myself and three of the other Junior Secondary Captains - Kate Gillespie, Hannah Ottaviano and Charlotte Bluck - had the privilege of attending.
We were able to listen to stories about the ANZACs from war veterans and other special guests such as the Honourable Paul de Jersey, Mr Bart Mellish MP and Chaplain Gary Stone. We also were able to lay a wreath to pay our respect to the ANZACs on behalf of the school. The ANZAC Day ceremony was an informative experience where we were able to learn about the time the ANZACs spent in wars fought and what it cost them, enlightening us to further understand what they went through and feel grateful for the sacrifices they made so that we could live in peace.
