Creative Arts News - October and November

Creative ArtsCongratulations to Elizabeth Burns, Meeka Ireland and Brooke Maltby who sat for their Grade 1 Practice of Music exam with the A.M.E.B. in October. All students received an A result.  Well done to all and a big thank you to Mrs Anderson who prepared the girls for their exam.
The Symphonic Band had their last performance for the year at the Halloween Street party. It was a great performance with the students looking particularly spooky in their Halloween costumes. Thanks to Mr Rander for conducting and preparing the band for this performance.
Variety Night was held on Thursday 5 November in the Star Theatre. It was a great evening of entertainment. The Concert Band and Stage Band performed, conducted by Mrs Anderson, as well as students from Year 7 through to Year 12. There was singing, dancing, acting and some great ensemble performances. Wonderful support from Mr Nutley’s technical team and from many Wynnum SHS staff made for a very professional concert. We look forward to developing Variety Night in 2016 into something bigger and better. Watch this space!
Senior Showcase was held on 12 November for Creative Arts students in Years 10, 11 and 12. It was a beautiful November evening, just perfect for a concert under the stars. Congratulations to all the students who performed and to the Visual Arts and Media students who presented their major works.
The next day the music students presented a lunchtime concert for the students in the school community who were unable to make the Senior Showcase performance. This concert was a great success and we look forward to presenting more lunchtime events next year.
