Wynnum State High recently hosted a group 19 very enthusiastic students from Iwatsuki High School in Saitama Japan. Although their visit to us was brief, the students were kept fully engaged across a number of curriculum areas including Home Economics, Health and Physical Education and Australian Culture.
Wynnum SHS students and staff were extremely welcoming and played a huge role in supporting our visiting students as well as their two accompanying teachers, Ms Akiike and Ms Ozawa.
Wynnum students who excelled in their responsibility as ‘buddies’ to the students were:
Year 10Krystal Grant, Ishana Butler, Brianna Fox, Taylor Widderick, Rhenalyn Penzalan, Jason Lakeman, Bernard Morgan, Oscar Duncombe, Ethan Kettyle and Adam Guthrie
Year 9Ella Viney, Maia Selby, Franchesca Serwelas, Aoife Brose, Lily Safi, Tara Clark, Khristine Valdellon and Isabella Guild
Year 8Harrison Hunt and Rose Filimoehala
Year 7 Fletcher Duncombe
Special thanks go to Ms Watson and Mr Ingersole who both presented specialist lessons for the students in Australian cooking and AFL respectively.
We look forward to our next Japanese student visit.
