The Wynnum High Annual Swimming Carnival took place last Friday and we were lucky enough to see sunshine all day after being postponed a week earlier due to the rain.

The students wore the colours of yellow, red, blue and purple as they were prepared to go face-to-face with fellow peers.  All students had a role to fill, whether it was cheering on the side of the pool, swimming frantically to the other end, or joining in on the novelty events to gain further points for their house.

The display of sportsmanship and team spirit was exceptional, the cheering was loud, the pool lanes were filled with splashes, and relay teams were filled instantly with extra reserves.

The almighty Yellows (Kennedy) walked away with the title of Champion House, with a final total of 801 points, closely followed by Cunningham with a total of 768 points, then Oxley in third with 427 points and Mitchell with a total of 344 points.

The competitive swimmers achieved some outstanding results, with a number of records being broken. Remarkable efforts came from Hayslee Cassidy breaking all 15 Years Boys 50 m records for Freestyle, Breaststroke, Backstroke and Butterfly. Dylan Kevern broke the 16 Years Boys 50 m Freestyle and Butterfly records and Bailey Gordon broke the 16 Years Boys 50 m Breaststroke record.
