As a learning community, Wynnum State High School maintains high expectations around student attendance.  All students must provide notification from a parent or guardian when they are absent from school.

Please note that students of compulsory school age, school staff have a duty of care to establish the reasons for absences from school.

For students of post-compulsory age, school staff have a responsibility to seek reasons for absences from school.

If your child is absent from school for a full day or more please ensure that you call the designated 24hr absentee line or submit a request through QParents.

Please note that for partial day absences such as late arrivals, early departures or leave/return to school, please call the absentee line or provide a note signed by a parent/guardian for your child to hand in at student reception.  For any student leaving early, advance notice is appreciated.

If your child is absent or late to school and we have not received notification by 9am, you will receive an SMS requesting a reason for the absence.

Absences ten consecutive days or longer due to medical reasons requires an exemption form
