​Homework Club

Wynnum High offers all students the opportunity to access Homework Club. 

Homework Club is a space for students to work on homework and assignments after school in a quiet environment.

Mondays and Wednesdays

3.00 pm - 4.00 pm

R Block - rooms R03 and R04

Bookings are essential and can be made via the Trybooking website:

https://www.trybooking.com/CQPFM


Bookings will now be open the Friday morning before each week.

For example, Week 3 - Monday and Wednesday bookings are open from 6am Friday of Week 2.

​Homework Pol​icy

Homework flows from all daily lessons. Homework will take various forms in a high school setting. Current research shows that homework is essential for information learned during the day at school to be moved from short term memory into long term memory storage. If students are to be successful at school, completing regular homework and developing study habits are essential.

Types of homework:

    • Written work needed for next lesson.
    • Long term written work – assignment or projects
    • Daily review of work covered in class – written or practical. For example, correcting mistakes or self-testing. Reviewing work consolidates learning and forms the basis of the next lesson
    • Essential learning of basics – reading, exploring associated topics, practising performance tasks, reading a textbook, researching a topic

Usually class teachers will set homework but students also need to develop their own study plans to assist with satisfactory understanding of the work covered.  Study is the acquisition of information through personal effort.

The prescribed hours for weekly homework are as follows:

    • Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 – approximately 5 hours per week.  (This may increase during assessment times each term.)
    • Year 10, Year 11 and Year 12 – hours will vary according to student learning needs and individual programs of learning.
