STEM Club
Every week STEM Club meets to compete in different STEM challenges. Working in small groups the students work together to design and create solutions with constraints to achieve the best outcome.
The challenges range from designing vehicles using LEGO, to building catapults, bridges and flying drones to achieve certain goals. During competitions the club meets more regularly to ensure they have time to complete their designs.
Robotics Club
Every week during Semester 2 students in Robotics Club meet after school to practice using Lego EV3 Mindstorms robotics kits. The students learn all there is to know about the sensors and the types of attachments which can be built in order to be ready to compete in the First Lego League Robotics Challenge held each year. This is a competition where students compete in groups against other schools across Queensland to carry out missions using their robots.
Lego Club
At lunchtime on a Friday, students work on individual or group projects which are completed over several weeks. There are also competitions where students compete against each other to achieve an objective. This club provides a calm, inclusive space where students can interact with other students across all year levels.
Green Hearts and Ecomarine ambassadors
Ecomarines is a group of students who want to become conservation leaders. The group encourages students to take action to combat water pollution at their local level and help preserve Moreton Bay. The program focuses on the impacts of everyday mainland activities on local catchments and river systems that feed into Moreton Bay and creates opportunities for students to link with local businesses, organizations, and marine experts to assist their efforts.
The Green Hearts program is supported by Brisbane City Council and educates and supports students to implement sustainable projects and actions to help create a cleaner and greener Brisbane.
