The SHAPE (Sport, Health and Physical Education) Program aims to extend students who excel in Health & Physical Education. The highest performing HPE students are invited into the program for Years 8-10. Selected students then have the opportunity to extend themselves further in Years 9 and 10 PE. The major goal of our program is to develop students with potential to study Physical Education when they enter their senior schooling years.
SHAPE involves an alternate program to offer students a unique HPE experience. Students will still cover the core theory units, however, they will cover a wider range of content. They will also undergo an integration of sport-related theory through participation in their studied physical activity and additional training sessions.
Training sessions will run Tuesdays from 3 - 4 pm and Thursdays from 7.45 - 8.40 am. We understand some students may have other training or commitments that may clash with these times; please let the HPE department know if this is the case so we can work around it. Students are expected to attend a minimum of three sessions each term.
The SHAPE classes are reviewed each semester and students may be added to or removed from the program at these times. To maintain a place in the program, students need to ensure they are achieving highly in both the practical and theoretical components of HPE, as well as demonstrating PROUD behaviours in all aspects of their schooling.
