Wynnum SHS has a time-honoured and well established Creative Arts and Instrumental Music program designed for students from Years 7 – 12 that values the development of creative thinkers and young people as emerging artists.
Symphonic Band, Big Band and Stage Band have a busy annual performance schedule playing not only for school events such as Investiture, Anzac Day Ceremony, Variety Night and Awards Night but also at local community events such as Mother’s Day in the Park, Bands in the Park and the Halloween Street Festival.
Other Instrumental Music activities include:
- A three-day Band Camp and five-day Band Tour that run in alternative years.
- An annual Concert Band tour to local Primary schools.
- Year 6 transition rehearsals. In Term four Instrumental Music students from our local Primary schools are invited to rehearsals with the Wynnum SHS Concert Band.
- Performances for Fanfare (every two years)
