Colour Run
The Student Council organised their second whole-school, fundraising event for the year, the Colour Run. It took place August 23 on the school oval and was a huge success. 312 students and a number of staff participated in the obstacle course: jumping through tyres, crawling under the net, climbing over haybales and dodging other obstacles, all the while being sprayed with coloured powder and water!

It was so much fun and the Student Council hope to run it again next year, with even more students involved.

Battle of the Bands
Last Thursday, August 29 saw the return of one of Wynnum’s most anticipated events - 'Battle of the Bands'! This year saw seven bands, with members ranging all the way from Years 8 to 12, compete to see who could rock the hardest in front of a packed Star Theatre. Our panel of expert judges had their work cut out for them, and their long deliberation period was a testament to how well every single band performed. Congratualtions to the Years 9/10 band 'Slym' that came away with the official win.

The Battle’s popular vote was even closer! Every single band had fans out in force and, despite 245 people casting their vote, the difference between first and second in this category came down to a miniscule 12 votes. In the end, Years 11/12 band 'Backrow' came out with the popular win.

Congratulations to both winning bands, and all involved for creating a fantastic night.

Student Council 2024 Farewells Year 12s
The Student Council farewelled our Year 12 student leaders in Week 7 at our last full meeting of the Council. Whilst it is sad to say goodbye to such hardworking, dedicated, friendly and wonderful teammates, we know that they are off to bigger and better things. We wish them well in their external exams and can’t wait to see them at the pre-Formal and Final Assembly.

Charlotte, Molly, Kate, Hannah, Ayesha, Jordan, Kyla, Nathan, Montanna, Charlize, Macy and Te – it has been inspiring to see you grow into your roles as school leaders and we’re so PROUD of all you have achieved.

Years 7-11 Student Councillors will complete a handover process with the 2025 Student Council in Week 5 of Term 4.  Our Junior Secondary Captains are looking forward to running full-school assemblies for the rest of the year but they know they have big shoes to fill with the legacy left by Charlotte, Molly, Kate and Hannah.

Student Councillors for 2025 have submitted their applications, Year 7 2025 will apply early in Term 1 next year, presented their speeches and are in the process of interviewing for roles. We know that WSHS will be in good hands with the 2025 Student Council and wish them luck with their applications.
