Support Program celebrations
Two of our Junior Secondary support programs came to conclusion recently with celebrations of the participating students achievements.
The Traction bike build program is an evidence-informed, hands-on learning and mentoring program, to help young people engage in education and build the resilience and skills they need to thrive. This term, 6 Wynnum State High School students completed the traction bike build program. The students learnt all about the different roles within a workshop and reflected on their own health and wellbeing through regular check-ins. The task throughout the term was for them to disassemble a bike, scrape all the paint and sand the frame down until it was ready to be primed and painted in the design of their choice. They finished the program with some road safety practice and took their bikes home to enjoy at the end of the program. A huge congratulations to the boys who completed the program this term and we look forward to seeing the lessons you have learnt demonstrated daily in and outside the classroom.
The Top Blokes boys mentoring program aims to foster better mental health, more responsible decision-making and deeply respectful relationships via their dynamic program for young males. With proven results, their long-term mentoring program enhances overall wellbeing and helps teens feel empowered. Last term, 10 of our boys completed the program which has been running for 1 lesson per week of the whole Semester. The boys have learnt many valuable lessons over their time in the program and we hope they can take these lessons with them through their lives.
Enrolment mornings
In Term 2, we welcomed some of our 2025 Year 7 in catchment siblings at our enrolment mornings. Students and families were able to tour the school, learn a bit more about Wynnum SHS and stay for an interview where requested. We loved meeting and learning about our 2025 Year 7 cohort and look forward to meeting many more of you this term. The dates for the next three enrolment mornings are below. Please email or call Jackie in the office on jocon1@eq.edu.au if you wish to book in for one of the upcoming mornings.
