As always, there is a lot going on in the Arts at Wynnum State High School.
Our first ever international band tour to New Zealand is fast approaching. Our Symphonic Tour Band has been busy rehearsing after school and on weekends preparing for their inaugural international tour. In the coming weeks our Instrumental Bands will be performing at Fanfare Eisteddfod, Government House and Rotary Days.
In Week 7 our Dance Troupes will be competing at Brisbane Performing Arts Challenge, and in Week 8 Dance Showcase will include two evening shows. Music, Drama and Visual Art Showcases will also be occurring in the Star Theatre in Week 8.
A number of our Senior Music students have been selected to perform at the Queensland Secondary Principals Association Conference at the Brisbane Hilton Hotel in Week 6. Another select number of students have also been invited to perform at the grand reopening of the Manly Hotel, which will be attended by many dignitaries.
Many of our performing Arts Students recently attended a performance of Disney's Beauty and the Beast at QPAC and were privileged to participate in a talk back with many of the cast and crew of the show. It's non stop in the Arts around here, and that is how we like it!
Fanfare Competition
On Tuesday, Wynnum State High School hosted the Instrumental Fanfare - Creative Generations.
Our students made us all proud, not only with how they performed on stage, but also with how they hosted the visiting schools and guests.
Congratulations to the following bands on their success:
- Symphonic Band and Big Band, who performed in Division 1 (the highest Division in Queensland) were awarded Silver.
- Concert Band, who competed in Division 3, were awarded a Silver.
- Stage Band, who competed in Division 3, were awarded Gold.
A big thank you to Mrs Carolyn Anderson and Mr John Cosic’s for leading our Instrumental Music Program.
We're Wynnum and We're PROUD.
