Mitchell’s first major event for 2022 was Harmony Day. This took place on Friday 26th April and was a huge success. The theme for the day was “We’re All in This Together” which celebrated our diverse, inclusive and unified community at Wynnum State High School.
The colour representing Harmony Day is orange. This signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. The money raised from our free dress day was donated to HoMie which is a charity who raises money for youths who are experiencing homelessness. $638.65 was raised for this very important cause.
The day began with a free pancake breakfast with all students signing an anti-bullying pledge. The lunch times were filled with music and dance performances that showcase the diverse range of talent at Wynnum State High School. On top of the entertainment there were a variety of games that students participated in.
The students practiced inclusivity by taking part in a pastoral care activity where each class found items within the classroom that represented harmony and diversity. These items were presented on assembly with students explaining their significance. The assembly highlighted the importance of Harmony through speeches, poems, musical performances and a flash mob performed by student capMitchell is busy preparing for their next event. We are collaborating with the Creative Arts Department to present Variety Night. This will take place on the 26th and 27th May. Tickets will be on sale in the upcoming weeks through Try Booking.tains and leaders. Overall it a wonderful day that celebrated our PROUD School.
